Musculoskeletal conditions

Neck and back problems are musculoskeletal disorders (MSD) which also includes cervical headaches and repetitive strain injuries (RSI) to any other area of the body. MSD is one of the main causes of people being off work sick or having decreased quality of live.

Physiotherapy is extremely effective with MSDs. In one study, 80 per cent of people who had physiotherapy for their MSD were able to carry on working and did not have to go off sick. Physiotherapists are highly skilled at supporting people with MSD.

The aim of the treatment is to address the causes of the symptoms as well as the relieve and management of the symptoms You will receive the appropriate treatment modalities fitted to your individual needs such as manual therapy, triggerpoint therapy, dryneedling and or electrotherapy. You will also be advice on suitable exercises and pain relief, as well as tips on how to prevent further problems.

People who have suffered injury or disease affecting the muscles, bones, ligaments or tendons of the body may benefit from physiotherapy.

Wilma Erasmus and Peta-Ann Schmidt have both successfully completed the 120 hour post graduate Orthopedic Manual Therapy (OMT1) of the SASP as well as numerous other courses in the evaluation and treatment of MSD conditions. Both Wilma and Peta-Ann hold APDL level 2 membership of the OMPTG group of the SASP.
